The personal world views of Jóska Sóos

Jóska Soós in action

Jóska Soós in action, s.d.

During the course of his life as a modern-day shaman and artist, Jóska Sóos developed his own vision and working practices. He took inspiration from different cultures, traditions and practices, from Hungary to Asia and Siberia. He used media as his drum, singing bowls and a wide range of vocal tones and guttural song to establish contact with 'a different reality' and to put the human soul at peace. He painted his vision of the world on to his drum. The drum skin, divided in six subdivisions, refers to the worlds in and between which the shaman was able to travel during his trance.
